Battling the Books: Week 6 Prop-Hunt

by | Oct 18, 2020

Every week, we sift through NFL props searching for ways to add some Benjamin’s to the wallet. Even if you don’t bet, or are in a state that doesn’t allow it, there is still value in learning what players and teams are set up to smash, and those to fade.

Please note, props are odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.

2020 Record: 6-3

Adam Thielen anytime touchdown @ -112

Through five weeks, 2020’s overall WR1 Adam Thielen has scored six touchdowns, good for tops in the league. If this was a brutal match-up, I would feel comfortable fading a Thielen score. But this is the Atlanta secondary that ranks No. 30 in pass defense DVOA. Thielen projects to draw coverage from Atlanta’s rookie A.J. Terrell, the No. 75 ranked cornerback by PlayerProfiler. Minnesota’s team total is set at 29.25 points and with Dalvin Cook out, the Vikings will rely heavily on Thielen to hit paydirt.

Marquise Brown over 57.5 receiving yards @ -112

Finally, a healthy Marquise Brown.

Hollywood is coming off a career-high 87% snap share, 37 routes, and a career-high 10-targets that he turned in to 6 receptions for 77-yards and a score. The Eagles shreddable No. 29 DVOA pass defense and stout No. 15 run defense will create opportunity for the Ravens to strike through the air. Brown’s massive 26.9% target share ranks No. 11 in the NFL. Yes, he draws Darius Slay coverage, but that won’t stop the talented Brown from reaching 57 yards versus the Philadelphia pass-funnel defense.

Devonta Freeman under 54.5 rushing yards @ +125

In his three games with the Giants, Devonta Freeman has ran for 10 yards versus the 49ers, 33 yards versus the Rams, and 60 yards versus the Cowboys. This week, under is plus money against this nasty Washington front. Sign me up. The shell of Freeman has gone under 54.5 rushing yards 14 out of his last 19 games.

Raheem Mostert over 13.5 receiving yards @ -112

Raheem Mostert has gone over 13.5 receiving yards in all three games he’s played this year, while averaging 3 receptions on 3.33 targets per game. He out touched Jerick McKinnon last week 14 to 3, so fears of a frustrating RBBC have been put to sleep. Plus, we have seen just how fast Mostert is with the ball through NFL Next Gen Stats. He has been the fastest ball carrier in the league since Tyreek Hill hit 23.24 MPH all the way back in 2016 and carries colossal upside on every single touch. Mostert will go over 13.5 yards in a flash.

Kenny Golladay over 65.5 receiving yards @ -143

We have to lay a little here at -143, but having Week 5 off for Kenny Golladay’s hamstring to fully heal bodes well for a Week 6 explosion.

Golladay hasn’t looked 100% since he returned in Week 3, so the extra time off is appealing. Healthy Golladay went over 65.5 yards at a 50% clip in 2019, but he didn’t get to play Jacskonville’s dead last DVOA pass defense every week. Since Week 1, the Jags’ secondary has been tagged by: Brandin Cooks 8-161-1, Tyler Boyd 7-90, Devante Parker 5-69, Jonnu Smith 4-84-2, and Parris Campbell 6-71. None of these players are up to par with Golladay’s talent, yet all went over 65.5 yards. The Detroit-Jacksonville matchup has a 54.5 point game total so expect a ton of points and a ton of Golladay.
